The Great Indian Migration – Los Angeles 1772-1840

November 4, 2016

The Great California Indian Migration video was created from ECCA data by Steiner and the Stanford Spatial History group with Hackel for the 2013 Huntington Library exhibition on Junípero Serra and the California missions. The video highlights the migration of Indians from villages to missions with a trail of dots indicating the movement of individual Indians. This movement is more effectively visualized in a video than possible in static presentation. Development of the video demonstrates the potential for spin-off products to be developed from the spatio-temporal data developed by ECCA and the value of more polished digital publications for specific audiences.
