LANAIC’s Self Governance Board Community Needs Assessment Report Back to Community

June 5, 2019

Throughout the month of April the LANAIC’s Self Governance Board and our American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) serving community partners distributed an American Indian and Alaska Native Community Needs Assessment. The goals of the Community Needs Assessment were the following:

  • Identify the poverty related needs of LA County’s AI/AN community
  • Identify the poverty related resources available to LA County’s AI/AN community
  • Identify both the personal obstacles and agency obstacles in addressing poverty in order to solve problems that block the achievement of self‐sufficiency.

The findings of this Community Needs Assessment will help to guide the work of the LANAIC Self Governance Board and of our Community Service Block Grant funded community partners. Before we share the findings broadly we want to convene our community to ensure that the needs identified are the most pressing to our community. We invite you to join us on Tuesday June 18th, 2019 from 6 pm to 7 pm at the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration (room to be shared at a later date) to have a conversation about the findings of the Community Needs Assessment. Food and beverages will be provided. Parking is free to the first 25 attendees at the Music Center Lot located at 135 N. Grand Avenue, Los Angeles 90012. Please note you will need to enter the lot via southbound traffic, turning right into the garage from Grand Avenue between First Street and Temple Street.

If you have any questions please contact Alexandra Valdes (213) 738-3241, aferguson@wdacs.lacounty.gov
