The Lakota People’s Law Project, in collaboration with the ABRIL bookstore is presenting a celebration of Armenian and Native American Survival on Saturday, April 29, starting at 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 30, starting at 1 p.m. at 415 E. Broadway in Glendale. Early bird tickets are $20, at the door $25.
Both days will include presentations by both Armenian and Native American individuals. There will be “spoken word,” music, dance, drums on Saturday, dance, poetry, film, a panel discussion, and additional drum work on Sunday. Proceeds will benefit the Lakota People’s Law Project and the Water Protector’s Legal Defense Fund.
The flyer advertising this event, states, in part, that this event will spotlight the creative and spiritual bonds between two groups of people who have preserved and advanced their ancient cultures. …. Both groups have emerged from their own respective genocides to become proud, productive world citizens. The funds will be used to protect the rights violated by the Dakota Access Pipeline at Standing Rock Reservation. “As a new wave of discriminatory power brokers harness critical levers of influence around the world, the time is now to unite, celebrate solidarity, and lay the groundwork for future collaborations.”
