Ron Andrade

Ron Andrade, a member of the La Jolla tribe in San Diego and of Luiseno and Diegueno ancestry. Ron has dedicated his life to promoting the interests of his people in Washington, D.C. and California.

A graduate of the urban studies program at Antioch University in Los Angeles, Ron was elected vice-chairman of the Inter-Tribal Council of California before the age of thirty. Following he was appointed executive director of the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI), the oldest and largest Native American organization in the United States. In 1983, Ron became staff assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs in the U.S. Department of Interior.
