Acknowledging that cultural access to space is critically important, on September 29, 2020 the Los Angeles County’s Board of Supervisors adopted the Indigenous Peoples’ Day Board Motion (Board Motion). The Board Motion directs the County Chief Sustainability Office (CSO) and the Los Angeles City/County Native American Indian Commission (LANAIC) to work with tribal and urban Indian stakeholders to identify barriers to the observance by Native communities of traditional, cultural or religious practices on County-owned lands that result from County, State, or Federal policies.
