Free Income Tax Preparation Assistance

February 4, 2014

Jerome Horton, Chairman of the Board of Equalization (BOE) Announces Free Income Tax Preparation Assistance

Federal tax credits supplement the wages of low income workers, especially working mothers. Residents in Los Angeles County may qualify for approximately $6,044 in earned income tax credit from the federal government. “For every 1,000 returns we complete, a potential six million dollars would be available to stimulate local economies and improve the quality of life for low-income individuals and families,” Chairman Horton said.

California businesses should encourage their employees to capitalize on Federal Tax Credits. If your employee earned less than $51,567, they may be entitled to federal tax credits of up to $12,000 including $6,044 in Federal Earn Income Tax Credits. It’s like a bonus for employees paid for by the Federal Government.

The BOE will host free income tax preparation services at each BOE District Office one day a week from January 27, 2014 to April 11, 2014.
